“good trouble” and “The fight”
The African American Fund (AAF) collaborated with the Columbus Human Rights Commission, UUCCI, The Heritage Fund, NAACP, Magnolia Film Company and other key community supporters to offer a virtual viewing of newly released documentaries. The September film GOOD TROUBLE was a review of Congressman John Lewis and how his life long activism shaped our American history. The film concluded with an interview of John Lewis by Oprah Winfrey.
THE FIGHT, the second film, profiled American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) active cases on immigration, same sex marriage and a variety of social justice issues. Following the film, a co-producer Kerry Washington commented on the making of the film and interviewed two attorneys involved in ongoing cases. The films were free and open to the entire community as a shared virtual viewing.
Appreciation goes to the First Presbyterian Congregation of Columbus, Pride Alliance, Friends of the Bartholomew County Library, CAMEO , Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Granny Connection, IUPUC and Taylor Brothers Construction for the additional support and commitment to this effort. A film and lecture series will continue from January to spring of 2021. Please join in!
